|Consul General Fei Mingxing Meets with Mayor Gumede|
On 20th February 2019, Consul General Fei Mingxing met with Councillor Zandile Gumede, Mayor of the eThekwini Municipality at Consul General's residence, accompanied by Deputy Consul General Ding Qiao.
Consul General Fei briefed the Mayor on the late Chinese New Year celebrations and the Open Day event celebrating the 40th Anniversary of China's reform and opening up as well as the 20th Anniversary of the launching of the Chinese Consulate in Durban. He thanked the Mayor and the Municipality for their support to the Consulate General and the local Chinese community over the past 20 years and looked forward to working closely with the Mayor for pragmatic exchanges and cooperation between the eThekwini and its sister cities in China.
Mayor Gumede warmly welcomed Consul General Fei to his post in Durban. She said that South African and the eThekwini Municipality could learn from China's development and experiences respectively in state and city governance. She committed herself to maintaining close relationship with Consul General Fei and seeking cooperation in agricultural products processing, tourism and vocational training with Chinese partners especially Guangzhou.
