2019-04-18

On 7th March 2019, Consul General Fei Mingxing attended the Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference of Guangdong and KwaZulu Natal in Durban. The Conference was jointly organized by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee and the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. More than 100 guests were present, including Mr. Lin Ji, Vice Secretary General of Guangdong Province, Cllr. Busi Ndlovu, President of Economic Development and Planning Committee of Durban, Mr. Musa Makhunga, President of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as representatives from Durban Municipality and local business community.

Consul General Fei welcomed Guangdong delegation and congratulated the successful holding of the Conference. He said, the relations between China and South Africa had entered a new era in which the consensus reached by the leaders of the two states needs to be put into practice by both parties. The industrial and commercial sectors from both sides should actively embrace the "golden harvest period" of Sino-South Africa relations and strive for "early harvest." As one of the earliest countries signed the Belt and Road Initiative agreement with China, South Africa would enjoy great potential for investment and development. He urged that the two provinces seize the opportunity of the Belt and Road Initiative, take advantage of the sistership as well as the sistership of Guangzhou and Durban, carry out more practical cooperation projects.

Mr. Lin, Cllr Ndlovu and Mr. Makhunga also addressed the audience respectively. During the Conference, entrepreneurs of both sides had engaged in the consultation and negotiation of the relevant fields.
