Women's Stories on Women's Day at Chinese Consulate-General in Durban


On 8th March, Mrs. LI Wenjun, wife of Consul General Fei Mingxing hosted a small forum themed Women's Stories on Women's Day in celebration of the International Women's Day at the Consulate. More than 30 distinguished female guests were present, including Councillor Fawzia Peer, Deputy Mayor of the eThekwini Municipality, Zulu Queen Mpume as well as representatives from local Chinese community.



Consul General Fei greeted the guests and extended his warmest greetings to ladies present and KwaZulu Natal Province at large.

Nine guest speakers shared their stories of family life, business adventure, charity experience and professional insights.                              

Mrs. Li presented the audience with stories of Chinese women including Nobel Prize laureate Tu Youyou, businesswoman Dong Mingzhu and astronaut Liu Yang. She also talked about progress of Chinese women course in the past 70 years since the founding of the people's Republic of China, especially the late 40 years of reform and opening up.


The Forum concluded with success and joys. Participants spoke highly of the innovative theme and inspiring stories. "It is truly meaningful to celebrate International Women's Day by sharing women stories of our two great countries." Deputy Mayor Peer said.
