|Consul General Fei Mingxing Meets with Editor of the Mercury|
On 11th July 2019, Consul General Fei Mingxing met with Yogas Nair, the Editor of the Mercury at the Consulate.
Yogas Nair, through her 18 years of experience in Independent Media, introduced the Mercury, proudly saying that as an important newspaper owned by the South African Independent Newspaper Group, it was the first in South Africa and enjoys the largest circulation in KwaZulu Natal. She also shared her views on the current political and social ecology of South Africa especially KZN, believing that the new South Africa and KZN provincial governments face great challenges in increasing employment, cracking down crimes and fighting against corruption. She hoped that South Africa would learn more from China's development and governance experiences, expand its practical cooperation with China and therefore bring more benefits to its people.
Fei Mingxing briefed Yogas Nair on the development of the Consulate General during the past 20 years and the great achievements made in the past 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially in its 40 years of reform and opening up. He spoke high of the mutual win-win cooperation between China and South Africa, and expressed appreciation for the objective report of the Mercury on China and its missions in South Africa. He also recommended that Yogas Nair visit China so that she could deepen her understanding of the country and its people as well as the friendship and cooperation between China and South Africa.
