|Consul General Fei Mingxing Visits South African Social Activist Gcina Mhlophe|
On 25th July 2019, Consul General Fei Mingxing visited Gcina Mhlophe, a South African writer and founder of the Gcinamasiko Arts and Heritage Trust in Durban.
Gcina Mhlophe welcomed Fei Mingxing to her "Cultural House" decorated with artifacts of different countries and ethnic groups, and briefed him on her work and achievements in culture and education as well as progress of a new library project for a local school. Culture and education is the hope of a country and a nation, "without culture, without future", she said. She would dedicate her life to the inheritance of the national culture and development of education in South Africa. She admires Chinese culture but regrets over her limited knowledge and understanding of it and has not yet been to China.
Fei Mingxing agreed to Gcina Mhlophe's understanding of culture and presented her with books and CDs on China and its culture, saying that culture serves as the foundation of national development and the bridge of mutual understanding between different nations. To promote friendship between the peoples of China and South Africa, the Chinese missions in South Africa have been organizing cultural exchange activities and carrying out educational cooperation projects across South Africa every year. Gcina Mhlophe and her trust are most welcome to participate in those projects. Gcina Mhlophe thanked Fei Mingxing for the "cultural gifts" and hoped to contribute to future cultural exchanges between the two countries.
