On Friday 12 March 2021, shocked to learn of the passing of His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu, King of the Zulu Nation, Consul General Fei Mingxing extended his sympathy to the Royal Family and the Zulu people, via His Royal Highness Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP, Inkosi of The Buthelezi Clan and Traditional Prime Minister to The Zulu Monarch and Nation. The letter reads as follow:

"It is with the profound grief that I learned of the passing of His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu, King of the Zulu Nation. Through Your Royal Highness, I would like to express deep condolences to the Royal Family and the Zulu people.

His Majesty the King has been supportive of and instrumental to the friendship and exchanges between the Zulu Nation and China as well as the Zulu people and the Chinese people. His visits to China have been fruitful. Since I assumed my duties as Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Durban in 2018, I have with honour met with His Majesty the King on many occasions and we established close relations with each other. His dedication to the Nation and its people and his enthusiasm for South Africa-China friendship has deeply impressed me.

My consulate and I value the relations with the Royal Family and the Zulu Nation and hope to continue jointly with you to further what His Majesty the King has been working on our friendship and cooperation.

May His Majesty the King rest in peace."
